referees

IDCMHA looks forward to welcoming both new and returning referees each season; without them, the game would not be possible. Each official (new or returning) must attend an officiating clinic annually in order to recertify for the upcoming season. Hockey Manitoba officiating clinics are offered each year between September and the end of November. Clinic dates and times are available on the Hockey Manitoba website. Attendance at the IDC-hosted clinic is not required. Officials may attend any clinic that best fits their availability. For more information, please contact the Referee-in-Chief

  • Officials entering Level 1 must be 12 years of age or older as of December 31, 2026
  • Officials entering Level 2 must be 15 years of age or older as of December 31, 2026

NOTE FOR NEW OFFICIALS

  1. Complete the Hockey Canada Learning Lab course
  2. Attend an in-person clinic and on-ice session
  3. Complete the required open-book exam

Officials may begin officiating once the online course is completed. However, failure to complete the mandatory in-person clinic by December 1st will result in the official not being certified for the season.
