Evaluations / Tryouts are open for all IDCMHA members, but are not mandatory.
IDCMHA uses third-party, external evaluators to determine player evaluations, placement, and team compilation. For 2025-2026, Max Analytics will be completing the evaluations.
EVALUATION STRUCTURE:
Evaluations are for U9, U11, and U13
Small groups: ensuring multiple attempts for each skill / drills for all players
Two (2) skill specific sessions per age group.
Two (2) scrimmages per age group.
SKILL SESSIONS:
Focus on skating, shooting, puck control, competition drills, etc.
Age divisions will be split into two (2) groups. This ensures adequate repetitions for each player completing each drill, resulting in a thorough evaluation. Ex: if there are 28 registered players for U11, this group will be divided into two groups of 14.
Players and Goalies attend these skates.
Group assignments will be random and generated by Max Analytics.
Communication will be sent by Max Analytics
SCRIMMAGES:
U9 will play 4 v 4, half ice
U11 and U13 will play 5 v 5, full ice
Not all players may will attend both scrimmages. This is to promote balanced game play for evaluation purposes: Ex: play being majority controlled by a few, to ensure adequate opportunity for all participants.
This decisions will be based on the evaluation scores, as determined by Max Analytics, from the prior skill and scrimmage sessions.
GOALIES:
Evaluations for goalies for U11 and U13
Goalies will attend the skill and scrimmage sessions
Goalies will attend a goalie-only session. This is for all goalies in U11 and U13.
COMMUNICATION:
Evaluation group assignments and schedules will be sent to you directly by Max Analytics. Using the contact information you provided when you registered in TeamLinkt.
All players/goalies are automatically registered to attend evaluations
Players will be randomly assigned to groups through Max Analytics within their age group and assigned specific ice times.
Ice times/groups be emailed to you directly and posted on our website. The full schedule is available now for awareness/planning.
Based on the registered numbers of players, it's possible there will be multiple groups within each age category.
Players are asked to arrive a min. of 30 minutes before their scheduled session.
At check-in, players will be assigned a random jersey at each session and all players will be required to return the jersey after the session.
Players may be assigned a black jersey with a number on one skate and a white jersey with a different number a different day. This is generated by Max Analytics to remove any potential biases in the evaluation process.
SPECTATORS:
All spectators will not be granted access to the ice surface area during evaluations.
All spectators will be allowed to observe from the upstairs viewing area.
If withdrawing, the player/goalie will be automatically placed on "C" team and will be ineligible for the "A" or "B" team(s), as determined for the age group each season.
If you don't attend Evaluations, you may be automatically assigned to the "C" team.
